Shoppers are being warned that supermarket slots are running low at some stores this Christmas.
Tesco, Asda and M&S have already warned about limited slots for Christmas supermarket deliveries, the Manchester Evening News reports.
Ive been lucky enough to manage to book a recurring slot with Asda. I've looked at the FAQ and the cancellation rules are a bit confusing. Can you cancel it as often as you want within the 6 month period or is it restricted. Asda delivery charges range between £3 and £5.50. There's a £40 minimum spend on home delivery orders and a £25 minimum spend for click and collect. Slots for December 19 and earlier are.
Tesco is experiencing high demand, while Asda has warned shoppers: 'Once slots are gone, they're gone.'
I though that the recurring slot would automatically move too but it did not. I rang ASDA and they could not help at all, saying they can not change it on their end. So I cancelled all of it and rebooked the Friday again hoping that it would give me the option for recurring slot again. It won't now as apparently that's too far away (23th). But be aware - even if you have a recurring slot, you won't be able to use it between December 19 and January 3. Therefore you'll need to book a new slot over that period before your regular slot.
Sainsbury's' is urging people not to leave it too late - and M&S says its slots are already running out.
It is clear, then, that shoppers would be foolish to leave it too late as the Christmas dash for groceries and gifts intensifies.
Naomi Schraer of MoneySavingExpert said: 'With ongoing coronavirus restrictions, it's likely supermarket delivery slots will be in even greater demand this year with some households keen to avoid the shops, so it's best to get in while you can.'
The Be Clever With Your Cash website also warns that even if you do get a slot, some must-need items might run out because of the Christmas rush.
So for those who want to plan things now, the MEN has taken a look at the available information.
